WHO AM I
The Mind Behind MFD
My name is Matteo Fontana, founder and head coach of MFD. My journey in basketball has taken me across continents, allowing me to learn from some of the best minds in the game and experience different approaches to athlete development.
Over the years of my professional career, I’ve had the privilege to train under some of the most respected head coaches in European basketball including Carles Duran (Joventut Badalona), Joan Plaza (Real Madrid), Aíto García Reneses (FC Barcelona, ALBA Berlin), and others. These coaches have guided EuroLeague and NBA talents, such as Pau Gasol, and possess unparalleled experience at the highest levels of the sport.
This exposure to different coaching philosophies shaped the MFD methodology combining European tactical precision with American athletic intensity to create a complete development system.
At MFD, my goal is simple: to pass this knowledge on to the next generation of athletes, providing them with professional-grade tools, structure, and mentorship to help them unlock their full potential both on and off the court.
